More on Biofuels

Earlier we reported on BP & DuPont’s announcent that they had jointly created a new biofuel–biobutanol–that is not only more efficient to make and use than corn-based ethanol but also able to power today’s engines. Unlike E85, which requires a non-traditional “flex-fuel” engine in order to be used in vehicles, biobutanol can be used in any car on the road today.

Now comes news that BP will give $500M over ten years to a research university in the US or Great Britian to finance biofuel development. Several universities are said to already be under consideration. One only hopes Ohio State’s Agricultural Research and Development Center in Wooster is one of them…
