Medicine – Our greatest strengths as a region center around medicine, materials, and manufacturing, a powerful combination that can dramatically affect both the health of our citizens and the health of our economy.
- Build upon and support the existing asset base, including commercialization support efforts of BioEnterprise, Cleveland Clinic Innovations, Case Technology Transfer, and Summa Enterprise Group
- Support commercial efforts to address healthcare disparities, i.e. utilize our technological expertise and institutional partnerships to develop new, low-cost healthcare solutions that address existing healthcare disparities within our community (and that can form the basis for new businesses based here)
- Focus on and support convergence between industries: i.e. attracting (or creating) orthopedic device companies to the region because of our strengths in polymers, manufacturing, and orthopedic research
- Encourage and support new forms of insurance and healthcare provision outside of the traditional “office visit” environment.
