Broad, Global Perspective

Tolerance — Improvements in transportation and information technologies made national borders less important, but the after-effects of 9/11 have caused us to retreat back into ourselves. Especially if we want to compete in the global economy we have to remember and rebuild our ties with the rest of the world, and encourage rather than discourage immigration to the region.

  • Support College 360 and other efforts to support and retain international students and graduates in the region
  • Build international business networks that establish Northeast Ohio as the US “hub” for international companies and researchers
  • Pursue business- and education-friendly immigration policies
  • Use globalization as a driver for regionalism and regional business growth
  • Enhance the role of the World Trade Center as a driver of these activities
